On Thursday May 9 at 2PM PST/5PM EST, I will be giving a presentation at the NARM/s MusicBiz 2013 conference called Monetizing Music, Marketing & Data in the New Music Business. The presentation will focus on various business and marketing innovations in recorded music, live music experiences, music tech and merch, with specific examples from Umphrey's McGee. The approaches outlined in my presentation are applicable to artists and companies alike in the entertainment and technology sectors.
For those not attending NARM, the presentation will be webcast live. Originally a $5 fee to stream when first announced, Linchpin Digital is now sponsoring this webcast and it will be available to all interested viewers FREE. Register here for your ticket.
I am honored to contribute an article to Andrew Dubber's newly published book, The 360 Deal. Andrew's idea is pretty cool...he asked a bunch of musicians and music industry professionals to contribute short articles of advice (of about 360 words) targeted to those starting out in the music business. All proceeds from sales of this book will benefit Music Basti - a youth-led charity in India which brings music workshops to homes for children affected by extreme poverty. The book is available now and features great articles by folks like Derek Sivers, Ariel Hyatt, Bruce Houghton, Ian Rogers and a whole lot more.
So what are you waiting for? You must know someone who's thinking about getting into this crazy business and could use some advice. Great content at a great price benefiting a great cause...go for it.
